Public Lending Rights (PLR)

Staff from the PLR office has recently been in touch with BEWA, because they are concerned that even though it is more than 30 years since the Act was passed that gave authors, and other contributors to books, the right to receive a payment when their books were borrowed from public libraries some authors have still not heard about PLR.
 
At a time when many writer's earnings have dropped due to reduced advances and royalties, it is a shame that some may be missing out payments they are entitled to. Anyone wanting more information can visitour website www.plr.uk.com or telephone 01642 604699.

MBE for Bob Langrish

Equestrian photographer and BEWA member Bob Langrish was awarded an MBE in this year's New Year's Honours List. Bob has been a professional photographer for 38 years, having previously combined taking pictures of motor-racing and serving in the Metropolitan Police. He covered his first Olympics in 1988 and has taken photographs for magazines all over the world, as well as having a prolific output for books — he has exclusively illustrated 100 and contributed to over 200 more.
