BRITISH EQUESTRIAN WRITERS ASSOCIATION
WRITING AWARD

Do you have what it takes to convey the excitement of Badminton to readers who were not there? Have you an enquiring mind that can seek out news or explain complex issues in an easy-to-follow narrative?  If this sounds like you, then don’t miss the chance to enter the British Equestrian Writers Association 2010 writing award. It could mean the start of a career in equestrian journalism - apart from the kudos of winning, first prize is a CV-enhancing week of work experience with Horse & Hound at its offices in south London.
Entrants need to submit two separate pieces that demonstrate the ability to research and write copy on a topical equine matter in two different styles and for two different readerships:
1.   A 350-word report or news story, as would be published a daily newspaper; AND
 2.   A 1,200-word feature on the same subject as in (1,) as would be published in a specialist equestrian magazine.

Entrants must be 25 or under. Completed scripts should be received by Peter Morris at the Royal Agricultural College by August 1, 2010, peter.morris@rac.ac.uk, with a covering message including the entrant’s address and telephone number.

Submitted entries will be judged by senior members of BEWA with international reputations in the field of equestrian journalism. Their decision will be final.
This winner’s prize is kindly donated by IPC Media and Horse & Hound magazine, and is to be taken at mutually agreeable dates during autumn 2010.
